When it comes to beer in Newmarket, you can’t mention brewing without mentioning Market Brewing. With deep roots in the community, Market Brewing is known not merely for its dynamic brews but also for its creative partnerships and its commitment to giving back to the community.

“From day one we have always wanted to use and showcase our Taproom as a local community hub where we are able to create fun events, activities, and experiences for our local and surrounding community,” said Piers Simpkin, co-owner of Market Brewing.

And while there’s always a new brew and new flavours to discover, what sets them apart is their commitment to giving back to the people they serve and doing it with flair!

Just this summer, Market Brewing hosted an event you wouldn’t typically associate with a brewery: Yoga with Puppies. Facilitated by Modo Yoga, they hosted one-hour long yoga sessions with adorable puppies that were available for adoption through Lost Boys Hope Dog Rescue. Now, they’re stepping outside the box yet again with something unseen in any other Ontario brewery – Bingo Night.
“Essentially we want to bring the community together,” says Simpkin. “We’re willing to try anything once!”

It’s that type of thinking that has allowed Market Brewery to become the first brewery to receive a Class C Charitable Bingo license, something that puts them in a category of their own. Market Bingo, which took two years to secure the license, runs on Thursday nights and each month proceeds from Bingo go to a different local charity.

“There’s no doubt that COVID has impacted our charity community,” says Simpkin. “We’ve seen the impact first-hand, and our goal is to support the charities that do so much for our community at large.”
